Training

Practice in a kart is just one way to get ready for races. I also work on coordination, endurance, strength, analysis, and mental strength in addition to driving.

To be honest, I love nothing more than jumping into my kart and racing on the track. However, I also know that I have to do other types of exercise to be well-prepared for the races.

I specifically train my coordination by playing the drums and juggling balls.

I specifically train my endurance by jogging, climbing stairs and jumping over beams.

I specifically train my strength with push-ups, sit-ups and strength exercises tailored to karting—such as neck exercises and leg training.

We analyze my performance after practically every session. Whether in practice or in a race, I give my coach and mechanic appropriate feedback on my performance. In turn, my coach lets me know what went well and what I can improve.

Mental strength begins with a clear focus on what’s essential. By that I mean, for example, mentally driving through the race track. It also helps me to successfully implement the goals that the analyses have identified as areas of potential.
